      Travel guide: Guiyang

Easier than you thinkJapanese and many European passport holders can enter visa-free for up to 30 days (through 2026). Metro Line 2 runs from the airport toward Guanshanhu, the venue's district, and the main high-speed station, Guiyang North, is in the same area.

      Getting there

From Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, take Metro Line 2 from the airport station (CNY 2–8) toward Guanshanhu, e.g. West Lincheng Road, then a short taxi or DiDi to the venue. By high-speed rail, use Guiyang North (Jinyang), served by Metro Line 1.

From your hotel to the venue

      From the official hotel

Jinyang Grand Hotel (300 Jinyang N Rd): about 150 m from the courts, a 2–3 minute walk.

      Things to see nearby

      • Guanshanhu ParkA big lakeside park in the same district as the venue. About 10 min by taxi; ideal for a walk or easy jog.
      • Qianling ParkHill park with wild macaques and Hongfu Temple on top. About 30 min by taxi; don't feed the monkeys, hold on to bags.
      • Jiaxiu PavilionGuiyang's landmark tower over the Nanming River. About 30-40 min by taxi; best in the evening when it's lit up.
      • Qingyan Ancient TownMing-era stone town with temples, churches and street snacks. About 1 hour by car from the venue.

      Food

Try sour soup fish (a spicy-sour Miao fish hotpot), "silk babies" (rice wraps you fill with vegetables) and beef rice noodles for breakfast. Guanshanhu is a newer district with plenty of malls and chain restaurants.

      Paying & staying connected

Most payments are by QR code with Alipay or WeChat Pay; both accept foreign Visa/Mastercard after ID verification (set up both). The metro takes QR codes too. Google, Gmail, WhatsApp and Instagram don't work on local Wi-Fi, so use roaming or a travel eSIM. Book rides with DiDi. Check current visa rules.

      Staying safe

A calm city overall. Watch your bag on crowded buses. Use station taxi ranks or ride-hailing, and feel free to refuse if a driver wants to add other passengers. Drink bottled water. It's a hilly, often rainy region, so pack a light rain jacket.

      With family & friends

Guanshan Lake Park (a lakeside loop path) and the free Guizhou Provincial Museum (closed Mondays) are in the venue's district. Qianling Park in town is known for its wild monkeys. Qingyan Ancient Town and, further out, Huangguoshu Waterfall make good day trips.

Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.

      Booking tips

      • Book one night at a time, so you can cancel just the nights after you lose.
      • Some hotels (e.g. Toyoko Inn in Japan) offer rates you can cancel free until shortly before arrival when booked on their own site. Deadlines differ by hotel and rate — always check before booking.
      • The cancellation deadline can differ between a booking site and the hotel's own site.
      • On Airbnb, a home with a "Flexible" cancellation policy usually gives a full refund up to a day before.
