      Travel guide: Guangzhou Nansha

Easier than you thinkGuangzhou has plenty of international flights, and Nansha is under an hour from the city on Metro Line 18. You can even arrive from Hong Kong by ferry.

      Getting there

From Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, a taxi takes about 60–80 min (~70 km, around ¥420 [~$58]). From central Guangzhou, Metro Line 18 (change at Guangzhou South) takes 50–70 min, ¥10–15. Ferries from Hong Kong take about 1.5–2 hours. Use a taxi or DiDi from the nearest station to the venue.

From your hotel to the venue

      From the official hotel

Juntai Hotel (8 Fengguan 1st St): right next to the venue (about 10 m), just walk over.

      Staying somewhere else

      Jiaomen / Jinzhou (Wanda)
Nansha's centre on Metro Line 4, about 3 km. Taxi about 10 min, about CNY 15.
      Huangge
About 6 km. Taxi about 10–15 min, about CNY 20.
      Nansha Passenger Port
Ferries to Hong Kong/Macau. About 13 km; taxi about 20 min, about CNY 40.

Tip: Nearest metro is Line 4 Jiaomen (about 2 km); DiDi works well — show the driver 南沙国际网球中心(南沙区凤凰大道).

      Food

Try same-day seafood at the Wanqingsha waterfront restaurants, and dim sum breakfast at your hotel. Shopping malls have hot pot and familiar chains, and convenience stores are everywhere, so eating is easy.

      Paying & staying connected

Pay mostly by Alipay or WeChat Pay; both accept foreign Visa/Mastercard after ID verification (3% fee over ¥200). Few shops take foreign cards, so carry some cash. Google, WhatsApp and most Western apps need roaming or a travel eSIM. Ride-hailing: DiDi. Japan, Korea, Australia, NZ and much of Europe get 30-day visa-free entry until 31 Dec 2026.

      Staying safe

China generally feels calm for visitors, but stay alert. Ignore drivers who approach you at arrivals; use the official taxi queue or DiDi. Watch for e-bikes on pavements, and drink bottled water. Summers are hot and humid, with typhoons possible, so hydrate and check the forecast.

      With family & friends

Within Nansha: Nansha Wetland Park (mangroves and birds), Tianhou Temple by the river mouth, and the waterfront promenade at sunset. Central Guangzhou, with Canton Tower and Pearl River night cruises, is reachable by metro.

Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.

      Booking tips

      • Book one night at a time, so you can cancel just the nights after you lose.
      • Some hotels (e.g. Toyoko Inn in Japan) offer rates you can cancel free until shortly before arrival when booked on their own site. Deadlines differ by hotel and rate — always check before booking.
      • The cancellation deadline can differ between a booking site and the hotel's own site.
      • On Airbnb, a home with a "Flexible" cancellation policy usually gives a full refund up to a day before.
