Travel guide: Yangling

Easier than you thinkYangling is a compact agricultural-science town west of historic Xi'an, about an hour by car from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport. It's quiet and easy to get around, and pairs well with sightseeing in Xi'an.

Getting there

From Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, a taxi or DiDi takes about 1 hour (roughly ¥200–250 [~$28–35]). By public transport, take Metro Line 14 to Xi'an North (~30 min, ¥4–8), then a high-speed train to Yangling South (about 1h45 in total). Take a taxi from the station to the venue.

From the official hotel

Yangling International Tennis Center Hotel is part of the venue, about a 3-minute walk to the competition courts.

Staying somewhere else

Yangling South station
About 3 km to the venue on Binhe Road; taxi/DiDi about 6-10 min. Several hotels near the station.
Yangling centre (Expo)
About 4-5 km from the venue, about 10-15 min by car. Most hotels and restaurants, plus Wanda Plaza.
Xi'an North Station area
HSR Xi'an North to Yangling South about 26-28 min, about CNY 23-30, then about 10 min by taxi — about 1 hour door to door.

Tip: Use DiDi or Amap and show the driver 杨凌国际网球中心(滨河路); Xi'an Xianyang Airport is over 90 km away, so the train via Xi'an North is usually quicker.

Food

Shaanxi is noodle country: wide biangbiang noodles, tangy saozi noodles, and roujiamo, a meat-filled flatbread. Local eateries are cheap and easy, with chains and convenience stores too.

Paying & staying connected

Pay mostly by Alipay or WeChat Pay; both accept foreign Visa/Mastercard after ID verification (3% fee over ¥200). Foreign cards rarely work in smaller cities, so carry some cash. Google, WhatsApp and most Western apps need roaming or a travel eSIM. Ride-hailing: DiDi. Japan, Korea, Australia, NZ and much of Europe get 30-day visa-free entry until 31 Dec 2026.

Staying safe

A calm university town, but stay sensible. Avoid unofficial drivers at the airport and confirm your destination when you get in. Drink bottled water. The climate is dry; winters are cold with some smoggy days, so a mask and moisturiser help.

With family & friends

Locally: the Yangling Agricultural Expo Park and the Sui-dynasty Tailing Mausoleum. Famen Temple is 35–40 min by taxi from Yangling South (entry ¥100). Xi'an, about an hour by train, has the city wall and Terracotta Warriors.

Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.
