      Travel guide: Gurugram

Easier than you thinkDelhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) has direct flights from Japan and across Asia. Gurugram is a modern business city with plenty of hotels and malls.

      Getting there

From Delhi Airport (DEL) to The Tennis Project in Baliawas Village (Gurgaon–Faridabad Road) is about 45–90 minutes by Uber/Ola, depending on traffic, for roughly ₹600–1,200 (≈ US$7–14).

From your hotel to the venue

      Staying somewhere else

      Golf Course Road
Upscale hotel strip; about 20–30 min to the venue by Uber/Ola, about INR 250–400.
      Cyber City / MG Road
Plenty of hotels, food and metro access; about 30–45 min by cab, about INR 350–600.
      Aerocity (airport)
Hotel district by Delhi airport; about 45–60 min by cab, about INR 500–900, longer in traffic.

Tip: The venue is on the Gurgaon–Faridabad Road at Baliawas village, over 6 km from the nearest Rapid Metro (Sector 55-56), so plan on Uber/Ola and allow extra time for rush-hour traffic.

      Paying & staying connected

Cards are widely accepted at hotels, malls and restaurants; keep small rupee cash for little shops and tips. Most foreigners can't use UPI, but the UPI One World wallet exists. Apply for India's e-Visa at indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa at least 4 days ahead. Uber and Ola work well; set up an eSIM before you fly.

      Staying safe

In winter (roughly late October–January), Delhi NCR air quality can be very poor. Check an AQI app, bring N95 masks and shorten outdoor sessions on bad days. Drink bottled water; use Uber/Ola or official prepaid taxis. Traffic is intense, so cross carefully.

      With family & friends

Eat and shop at Cyber Hub or Ambience Mall, or walk in Aravalli Biodiversity Park (about 30 minutes by car). In winter, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary (closed Tuesdays) is famous for migratory birds.

Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.

      Booking tips

      • Book one night at a time, so you can cancel just the nights after you lose.
      • Some hotels (e.g. Toyoko Inn in Japan) offer rates you can cancel free until shortly before arrival when booked on their own site. Deadlines differ by hotel and rate — always check before booking.
      • The cancellation deadline can differ between a booking site and the hotel's own site.
      • On Airbnb, a home with a "Flexible" cancellation policy usually gives a full refund up to a day before.
