      Travel guide: Yamanashi

Easier than you thinkThe venue is a tennis resort with its own hotel, so you sleep and play in one place. It is about 1.5–2 hours from Shinjuku by limited express, with fresh highland air between the Yatsugatake and Southern Alps mountains.

      Getting there

From Shinjuku, take the JR Chuo Line limited express Azusa or Kaiji to Nirasaki (about 1 h 36 min) or Kobuchizawa (about 1 h 53 min; some Azusa trains stop). The nearest station, Hinoharu, is about 10 min by taxi, and hotel guests can book a pick-up by 17:00 the day before. From Haneda or Narita, go to Shinjuku first. Highway buses also stop at Sudama IC, about 10 min away by taxi.

From your hotel to the venue

      From the official hotel

You can stay at Club Verde itself, so no transfer is needed. Guests get a shuttle from JR Hinoharu Station (book by 17:00 the day before); by car it is about 6 min from Sutama IC on the Chuo Expressway.

      Staying somewhere else

      Paying & staying connected

The hotel and larger shops take cards, but rural restaurants and taxis often want cash, so bring enough yen. IC cards like Suica may not work at every local station. Rooms have Wi-Fi.

      Staying safe

This is a quiet resort area and generally safe, but roads are dark at night, so avoid walking them. Mornings and evenings are cool at this altitude, so pack a jacket. The daytime sun is strong; bring a hat and sunscreen.

      With family & friends

Relax in the hotel's large communal bath (17:00–22:00). Nearby are the Suntory Hakushu Distillery (about 20 min by car), Moeginomura in Kiyosato, and the Nakamura Keith Haring Collection in Kobuchizawa, plus mountain walks.

Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.

      Booking tips

      • Book one night at a time, so you can cancel just the nights after you lose.
      • Some hotels (e.g. Toyoko Inn in Japan) offer rates you can cancel free until shortly before arrival when booked on their own site. Deadlines differ by hotel and rate — always check before booking.
      • The cancellation deadline can differ between a booking site and the hotel's own site.
      • On Airbnb, a home with a "Flexible" cancellation policy usually gives a full refund up to a day before.
