Travel guide: Liuzhou
Easier than you thinkJapanese and many European passport holders can enter visa-free for up to 30 days (through 2026). The airport is only about 15 km from the centre, the city is compact, and its famous snail noodles make for a fun, low-key trip.
Getting there
Liuzhou Bailian Airport is about 25–35 min from the centre by taxi. The airport bus to Liuzhou South Bus Station takes about 50 min for CNY 15 and runs to meet arriving flights. There's no metro, so take a taxi or DiDi to the venue.

Paying & staying connected
Most payments are by QR code with Alipay or WeChat Pay; both accept foreign Visa/Mastercard after ID verification (set up both). Buses take QR codes too. Google, Gmail, WhatsApp and Instagram don't work on local Wi-Fi, so use roaming or a travel eSIM. Book rides with DiDi. Check current visa rules.
Staying safe
A fairly calm city, and the riverside is well lit at night, but keep an eye on valuables. Drink bottled or boiled water, not tap. Bring mosquito repellent for evening parks. English is limited, so install a translation app.
With family & friends
The Liu River loops through the centre and is lit up beautifully at night; the riverside parks are free and pleasant. Yufeng Park, in the venue's district, and Longtan Park, with karst peaks and minority-style buildings, are short taxi rides.
Prices and details are rough guides (researched in 2026). Please check the latest before you travel.
